I can hear my amp with no cabinet
I use a loadbox for recording (amp -> 8 ohm loadbox -> xlr to my interface) and it's normally ideal for silent recording. Today though I noticed that I can hear the guitar signal in the amp. It sounds buzzy. Is this normal? Am I breaking the amp?

That is well odd. Doesn't sound entirely healthy either.
Only thing I can immediately think of is something wildly microphonic in there such as your output transformer.
What sort of amp is it anyway? Does it still sound healthy if you put it through a speaker?
Anyone else any ideas on this???
Andy.

Re: I can hear my amp with no cabinet
Anything in the equation that can move and/or has any inductance to it can make sound. I use a dummy load and a scope to bias my amps, and at max volume, I can definitely hear the test tone in the dummy load or my power tube plates - not sure which. As long as your load box can handle the output power of the amp, and your amp works correctly when not using the load box, I'd say you're okay.
Re: I can hear my amp with no cabinet
I want to say (long time ago... maybe I'm foggy on this) I could vaguely hear my OR80 with no speakers plugged... of course I was screwing up by having it turned on in the first place without a load. Makes no sense to me whatsoever.
