Re: Fuzz Fuzz Fuzz
Haven't tried the other fuzzes in this thread so I can't really compare but my favorites that I own and use a lot are Mahoney Bosstone (middy oldschool), Lovepedal 200lbs (nice low end and sustain, sounds a little like a better big muff), ZVex Fuzz Factory (crazy gated stuff) and Mammoth (nice limiter and lots of low end).

Death By Audio pedals is owned and hand-built by the frontman of the band A Place To Bury Strangers. He even builds all the the bands amps, seen here... http://otherbandsstuff.com/post/5273416 ... ers-6-4-13" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;Orangesoda wrote:Wow these dudes have some interesting stuff! Re: Fuzz Fuzz Fuzz
Ah completely forgot that I owned a ZVex Fuzz Probe for about 24 hours. It was pretty bad TBH.
The worst part was having to have it first in your signal chain (wireless didn't work, had to be wired in). Even putting my Sonic Research tuner before it caused issues. When I did run it on its own, I found it pretty horrible sounding.
The one I have been interested in lately is the AmpTweaker Tight Fuzz. I have been eyeing the bass version, people are saying good things about the guitar version as well.

Re: Fuzz Fuzz Fuzz
Anyone tried the Wampler Leviathan or Velvet Fuzz? I'm dying to hear how they do with an Orange amp.
Gear: Orange Rocker 30 head, Orange TH100 head, Orange PPC212OB cab, pedals galore, Fender MIJ 52 RI Tele w. BKP Blackguard Flat '52s, Fender MIA Standard Strat w. Fender CS Fat '50s, ESP LTD MH-1000 w. BKP (AlNiCo) Nailbomb/VHII.
Re: Fuzz Fuzz Fuzz
I posted above regarding the Leviathan.
It excels at very high gain. When set up properly it sounds HUGE! At lower gain I was less than impressed. It is very modern sounding, almost like a high gain distortion pedal. I think it would make the perfect fuzz for very down tuned stoner/doom music.
I have also seen a few demos of the velvet fuzz. It seem more like an extremely smooth OD instead of a fuzz. You will have to try one out and let us know

Re: Fuzz Fuzz Fuzz
After doing further research I went for the Basic Audio Scarab Deluxe and the Zvex Fuzz Factory.
I'm not much of a fan of the muff-type sound so I was trying to stay away from that. I'm pretty sure I'll like the Scarab. Got it in an awesome orange color, it matches my tele that I just got! The Fuzz Factory might be pretty cool. If not that I might get a Leviathan. Can't wait to try em all out!

Tiny Terror owner here. I tried a ton of fuzzes with my orange before finding the Blackout Effectors Seriously Special Twosome Dual Fuzz. It was the only one I could make work with the finicky preamp on the TT. Lots of tweakability. Three bonus is the boost function on the fix'd side of the pedal. Featured a bunch on my band's latest recording of you wanna take a listen.

Re: Fuzz Fuzz Fuzz
I think the best fuzz I have hear is either the Hoof, or the Colossus. Can't believe that nobody mentioned them, I think they are pretty much considered to be the last word on fuzz.
Hoof:

Colossus:

Personally I think the Hoof is the best fuzz I've ever heard.

Re: Fuzz Fuzz Fuzz
I almost got the Hoof. I was very close to getting it. Listened to a few more demos and I was preferring a Tone Bender type sound so I ended up getting a Scarab Deluxe.Wendigo wrote:I think the best fuzz I have hear is either the Hoof, or the Colossus. Still looking for another fuzz. The Colossus and the Musket were 2 that I was looking at. Haven't settled yet. I would ultimately like something that isn't like a Muff, Tone Bender or Fuzz Face. Any suggestions on some unique fuzzes?

Re: Fuzz Fuzz Fuzz
Thanks for posting this info. I had never heard of them, but like both! was kinding leaning toward a pharoah, but not now! I think these 2 both sound much better. I just wonder if they would work with my OR120 well?Wendigo wrote:I think the best fuzz I have hear is either the Hoof, or the Colossus. Re: Fuzz Fuzz Fuzz
I honestly don't know. My only experience with Orange and pedals was with my RV50C and TBH it hated everything.....except my "You Dirty RAT" which was a fuzz.ironlung40 wrote:Thanks for posting this info.
