Thank you bensnake!

It's very nice to have those finished, especially the reverb. I can't believe I had the circuit assembled in March this year!!!!!
The fuzz factory is gonna require some work to use it well. It's really nuts!

--------------------------------------------------

Now I'm reaching another stage.
I'm soon gonna finish my Big Muff Pi build.

I'm gonna change a couple of things to that one though.

- Ive change the 1st transistor to a MPSA18 instead of a 2N5088.

- I'm also adding an on / on switch that will let me select 2 options for the 2nd diode clipping stage - 1 side a pair of classic silicon diode 1N4148, the other a trio of germanium 1N34A diodes.

These 2 mod bring it fairly close to the black arts tonework pharaoh in some respect - I noticed after ordering, those germanium diodes are the same one they use, and I thought I'd try the MPSA18 since that's what the pharoah uses in Q1 (transistor position 1).

- finally, i'm gonna change the tonestack. I don't want to traditional mid scooping, so I'm gonna change the capacitors and resistor values in both the high pass and low pass of the filter.
I'm aiming for a 3db boost from 100hz ish to 800hz for a nice mids rich tone. The tube screamer has about 20db boost across the midrange frequency, so I'm pretty sure a small 3db across the midrange shouldn't be too bad and hopefuly still let the characteristics of the BMP shine through. I should know pretty soon I reckon.

My latest completed pedal - meet the Green Panda Muff:

I'm particularly pleased with that one, probablyy best pedal build.
And it's got a green LED!!!!!!!!

Essentially a Ram's head circuit Big Muff Pi with a few slight mods:

- Instead of silicon diodes only for the 2nd stage clipping, i fitted a on off on switch to switch between the 2 silicon diodes and 3 germanium 1N34A diodes. As per Ironlung40's recommendation, i went for on off on instead of on / on, so I can opt to have no diodes at all.

- I replaced the 1st transistor with a MPSa18

Both these mods make it quite similar to the Black Art Toneworks pharaoh.

- The main mod I did was to change all values to the tonestack capacitors and resistors. I don't like the scooped tone stack of the Bmp and I as looking for a tone stack that was more prominent in the lower mids because I like it that way, and assumed it would work better with my Oranges.
So I aimed for a slight boost between 300 hz amd 800hz.
That has worked VERY WELL. I'm so chuffed!!!!!!

So far I seem to prefer the germanium diodes, it's less compressed, and more pleasing. Much less volume than the silicon diodes though, and no diodes at all is massively loud.

But the best really is how easy that tonestack is to use. It's incredibly good!
Was so good to hear it come off as well as I wanted it it to be!
That one is going to be my main lead sound I think when I play with my AD15.

Im really pleased it turned out so well.

But now..... I need to find a new project...... Perhaps I need to start thinking DIY pedal board........

That artwork is pretty rad. I don't know who would sell guns to a panda bear, but that's neither here nor there.

Actually a one piece body, that's my center line down the middle, and an old scrappy MIM Strat neck.

Thank you guys - I haven't replied before, I've had a sight issue that bother me with that green panda.....

My tone control works very well....... below unity volume with my AD15. When I put the volume up high enough to get a lead guitar volume boost, the tone shaping becomes ineffective.... not sure if the volume stage transistor is overwhelmed by the signal or if it's the AD15 yet. Ineed to try it with my RV50 again. I tested it with it to start with and didn't notice that problem.

In any case, it sounds great, but odd.........

Jondog, what are you planning to pu in that guitar?
Is the body alder?

There is just something not quite right... the look of that bear and the word "muff"...lol

I call it the green panda - but it is a big muff pi clone.

Even with the partially effective tone control, it sounds great!

AH!!!!

I'm glad to report that my tonestack works perfectly.
Tried it on the clean channel of my RV50, it works very well indeed at any volume......

So my AD15's preamp I think gets a bit overwhelmed by the signal out of my Green Panda and recreates all sorts of harmonics.....

Interesting, I wasn't expecting that.
Glad it still sounds nice still through the AD15!!!!!

Well, that flew over my head....... Totally!!!!

I knew when I decided to do the panda that the switch would be in an awkward place.....!!!! My bandmate was commenting on that knob / switch thing the other day......

Funny thing is Way Huge called theor BMP clone the swollen pickle just because it was a clone of the big muff pi......

Anyway Jondog, you squirmed around my question - what gonna go in that guitar?
Pickguard? How many knows? Bridge type? Pick ups?

Sorry bout that, missed the question! It's a 1.5" thick one piece Alder body. Basically a Mustang only 25.5" scale as opposed to standard 24" o Mustangs. Putting a Fender Toronado bridge (through body strings), Seymour Duncan JB in the Bridge, haven't quit decided for the neck pickup, but I have a loaded strat pickguard laying around wit some GFS Neovins in and I really liked them, might use the neck pickup from that. Thinking about doing white body and I happen to have an old scratched up crappy sounding Jimi Hendrix Band of Gypsys vinyl I might fashion into a pickguard. Probably go for just two volume controls and a single toggle switch. Don't really like the switches normal mustangs have. Toying with the idea of putting in a phase switch somewhere.

Exciting times ahead!!!!!

I'd love to build a guitar one day. But I really want to build a neck too, though that scares me quite a bit - most important part of a guitar!!!!

Yeah, does mustang switches are totally impractical IMO - and look rubbish too as far as I'm concerned.

Will you do white white, or a sort of see through white? Nice piece of alder there, I like the patterns. I'd want to see it personally.... :o

I'd like to build a neck, but looking into the cost of all the special tools I'd need to buy to do it properly it makes much more sense to just custom order one. I have basic shop tools that would only handle the rough work and it's important to have a well built neck to me.
I wanted to do a transparent Mary Kay White, problem I have is all the good guitar paints I can find are in the US and they can't ship them accross the border. Might have to settle for auto paint.
