TINY TERROR 10" Combo Discontinued?

Post by nibs » Wed Jan 29, 2014 12:20 pm

So just bought a used 10" TT combo.

Do Orange still make these or are they now discontinued?

Well, it doesn't appear on their website, just a Tiny Terror Combo, and that one appears to be the 12" combo. I had the 10" combo up until recently (sold it as it was too loud for a house practice amp, and I needed the extra cash), it's an awesome amp man! I really really loved the tone. And the 10" speaker was very bright and punchy but still had a nice low end. Really solid combo.

The only thing I hated about it was if you need to get into the amp to replace tubes or anything, you'll need to set aside some serious time just for unscrewing all the screws.

It's discontinued... I really want to play a 10" and 12" combo side by side. There's a particular video on YouTube where someone demos both amps with the same guitar and same room, two different videos though. But, the 10" sounded better when mic'd to me, although on message boards people almost unanimously say the 12" sounds better.

Thanks for the replies,

Yeah I couldn't find any info on Orange website regarding the 10" or any music shops selling them either.

Sound is fantastic though for a 10".

Does anyone know how many were made and what years they were made in?

I don't think they made very many of them. The 12" were always more popular.

Yeah, not a lot for sure. I got mine new from Bills Music in Catonsville, MD, around June maybe, of 2012. Came in the box and everything. I thought the prices they listed online were for the 12", so it was cheaper, but then when I got there I saw that they had both 10 and 12. The 10 sounded great to me, and was much cheaper - so I took it home!

I've heard that the year was around 2009 - 2012 maybe?

My TT 10" serial number starts with: T 0909

...so maybe Sept 2009 perhaps?

With the stock speaker in the TT10 the G12H30 in the 12" combo kills it in sound/tone IMO. But, if you have the chance to swap the Celestion 10" with a broken in (very important) Eminence 10" Ramrod try it out. Easily the best upgrade I've found with my TTs and it's pretty much all I use with my TTs anymore. The Ramrod is the first 10" speaker I've heard that will hang with a 12" in tone when it comes to OD sounds.

Hi everyone. I'm new here and not sure if I should start a new post, so I'll just post my questions in here.
I own the TT15C-10 with stock G10N-40 which is really nice, but've always wanted to upgrade it with a good 12" (say the G12H-30 which comes by default in the TT15C-12 model).
Seems that the Orange Amplification company doesn't provide the info on the 10" combo anymore.
So may anyone can make this clear for me:
1) is it possible to fit the G12H-30 into the TT15C-10 cab? (I sure know that I am gonna need a new baffle with the 12" hole).
2) are the TT15C-10 and TT15C-12 combos identical in size? On the Internet there is some inaccurate, misleading or contradictory information regarding the cab sizes, e.g. you can find both metric and imperial units which do not match after conversion. I guess it is because the retailers may provide the size with or without the handle / plastic feet. :?

Unfortunately in the place I live I have no possibility to put my 10" TT combo beside the actual 12" TT combo to compare both of them.
Any help in answering these questions is appreciated.

Greets,
Ioann Leningrado.

I'm almost positive the TT10 is physically smaller. I've measured mine and compared it to what Orange has online for the TT12 and it's about an inch smaller in width and height. Also, I think you'd have a heck of a time trying to get a 12" speaker in the TT10 with as much space the amp takes up inside.

I would recommend trying to get a hold of an Eminence Ramrod if you can and try that first. If that speaker doesn't do what you want then you may try to find someone with a TT12 to trade or trade someone who has just the TT head.
