GAS new amp - Goldfinger, Empire, Mini Plex mk II, Badger

Post by enricoromanielo » Thu Jan 16, 2014 4:53 pm

Hey guys, long time since my last post. Work has been kinda crazy...

So, I am gassing hard for a boutique amp. I currently have a Rocker 30 and it has been great, but I´ve been wanting to add new gear to the old amp room.

Watching some videos on Youtube and reading some reviews, these four amps caught my attention: Bogner Goldfinger 45, 65 amps Empire, Fargen Mini Plex mk II and the Suhr Badger.

The Goldfinger tones seem to be really amazing, and it seems like a very versatile amp. The other three also seem to sound amazing, and have the advantage of power scaling (in the case of the Empire, the Master Voltage control).

I´ve been leaning towards the Goldfinger 45, but the Mini Plexi and the Empire do seem like killer options as well, and they both have power scalling that it's said to work very nicely!

What are your opinions on this? Do you own or have ever played any of these amps?

Cheers!

I had a thing for the goldfinger too. Still do. Seems like it can do everything!!! Creamy overdrives gutsy crunch and amazingly sparking cleans. I'll say though, it isn't for someone with a more minimalistic approach. Tons of sounds but tons of switches too. Which is not bad, it just is or isn't for you. Soundwise...killer
There is nothing like a fender clean, but there is nothing like an orange crunch
