Sovtek Mig 100h

I finally had band practice the other night and was able to play the new Mig 100h! All I can say so far is wow, this thing is crazy loud. I've heard that all over the 'net from people who have them and played them, but seriously it was unbelievable. I can't remember my exact eq settings, but I think I had the bass about half, middle about 3/4 up, and treble a little over half up. The Volume was around just past halfway as well, same for the Presence. The Master was barely a 1/4 of the way up and I had so much volume. I can't believe I could have gone up so much more, just so loud. I felt like I would have blown the speakers in my Mesa 412 if I had! 8)

I want to get back to the practice space again alone and play around with my eq and find the perfect setup, didn't get a chance to really dig into it yet unfortunately. But so far I'm pretty happy with it. Stands out well in the mix too!

Just the fact that it's called a Mig alone is awesome.

Yeah they were pretty gnarly amps. Nothing fancy, but effective. Glad you're liking it!

Don't think your Mesa 4x12 would be in any danger though unless it had say 25W 'Greenbacks' in it. Your ears might be another matter, and they are harder to replace...

I just "invested" ($5) in some of these myself, maybe you'll need some too if you don't already have them...

Oh yeah, I've definitely got earplugs that I always wear! No worries about blowin' out the ears! And the Mesa is stock, so not actually worries about those speakers at all. I am just really blown away by how loud this amp can get, so much volume left.

I am definitely happy with the raw power and simplicity of this amp!

How different are the two channels? Is it like a clean/dirty setup or more of a dirty/less dirty?

My mig 50 also has ridiculous amounts of bass and mids on tap. It's pretty overwhelming.

Do you mean the High and Low inputs? I only used the high input so far, but with Volume up (basically preamp volume) I have plenty of dirt. Yeah, I haven't dimed the bass or miss yet, but I can tell there's plenty there! I did dime the presence at one point and it can get pretty raspy/harsh with that.

You still looking to sell the OD120? If so, do you like the Mig better? I was just wondering what would possess you? :?

I think he secretly wants to sell the amp so he can buy a 70's vintage one further down the line :D

 I would definitely like to buy a 70s one down the line! I am still looking to sell the OD120, have a guy lined up, we'll see. I bought the Mig when I sold the Tiny Terror (yup, sold it). I'm at the point where I could keep the OD, but if I sell it I can make some much needed home purchases without coming out of pocket.

And yup, one day I can buy another OD or OR down the line. For now, it's nice playing with a cheap but great sounding amp (Mig)!

Yeah, I was referencing the low input. It's my understanding that you can only use 1 input at a time on these amps, and then rhythm channel is way cleaner. Just wondering if there's any truth to that!

I'm gonna go play my Mig 50 when I get home. :D Sorry, rocker 30!
