Next best for classic

Post by jeffp » Sat Jan 11, 2014 1:20 pm

To all rocker 30 and classic rockers what is the next best orange amp for same? Or what is best for classic rock that's still in production and available new? I dream of CS 50 w/effects loop.

I say OR50 or OR100. Effects loops are easily installed, just need a good quality loop. OR50 has 3 gain stages like the Rocker.

OR120...but you got to go vintage, then after the OR120 the R30, after that, OR50, then AD140, then AD30...just my opinion

Are you talking mainly playing live? Classic rock? Need a slightly dirty rhythm channel? AD30TC is your only choice...

OR50 is amazing and different enough to my ears to justify that one as a possibility. AD30 great if you want moe class A. Love that tone with the el 84s. personally I like the rockerverb 50 for its versatility but with the 6v6. I don't think one is a better choice then the other, just depends which variant appeals to you the most.

the clean channel on the th30 cranked sounds like (badass) angels singing. as fine a crunchy and articulate rock/blues tone as i've heard anywhere. plus you can tweak the crunch by switching between triode/pentode and 2 tubes/4 tubes. highly versatile. i'm running thru a 2x12 with 1969 altecs (warm) and a 1x12 with an evm 12 (punchy). the combination is awesome.

and then there's the gain channel.
