Orange footswitch too big... or is it?

Post by joeminer » Sun Nov 17, 2013 4:10 am

I've been trolling around on the forum a bit over the past couple months. This is my 1st thread start. Anyway, I finally decided my footswitch was too big. So I spent a couple hours with a demel and my Orange pedal is now a Rang pedal. Thought I'd share. :D

Neat. I wouldn't have done that.

Cool.

My first thought was, first time you step on that and it flips over you'll wish you weren't so zealous with the Dremel...

Just need some Godlyke power grip now and you're set!

You could always paint the 'O' and 'E' on the sides...

Yeah, it is a bit big I guess. That's definitely a solution!

Mine's a double so it doesn't seem as big by comparison.

I like that big double footswitch too! I think it looks cool too. The day I build my pedal board, it will have place or pride!!!!

It's pretty solid with the Velcro that comes with the pedal train.

Very interesting idea!

I got around the Orange pedal thing using a looper...

I use a Road Rage true-bypass buffered looper ( http://www.roadrageprogear.com/ ) on my board and had one of the switches wired to control the channel switching for my Rocker30, AD30 and OR50. While unfortunately having to sacrifice a loop point on the loopper, I gained a LOT of pedal board real estate.

Works great though...but maybe not so well for an amp that requires dual switches?

Here's mine. Built it a few days ago. Has an effects loop that switches off when I switch the dirty channel on. This lets me run pedals like the Wampler Black 65 on the Natural channel and switch to the dirty channel without the pedal(s) in the signal. Works great! Fender Deluxe on one channel Orange goodness on the other and no tap dancing! Don't have it all hooked up at the moment, redoing my board.

That's pretty cool and I agree the size of the foot switch is really big compared to what the circuit is. Once I figured that out I just wired my own in a new enclosure. It's the silver square on the bottom rung of the board under the wah in the pic.

That is such a great idea!!!!!!

So you have like 5 1/4" jack input in that one little pedal? And I assume the little LED is fed by the amp like an oridnary footswitch is?

What do you do if you need some effects for your dirty/leads part?

Yes, 5 jacks, LED is hooked to the amps circuit for power. The only effects I put in the loop are ones dedicated strictly for the Natural channel, the Black 65 in my case.
