The Starcaster looks so insanely f*** -ed up that it becomes pretty cool. I like hollow bodied guitars and the wide range humbuckers should contribute to good a sound out of it :)

eerrrrr..... anybody else only sees a bell end when looking at the star caster headstock?????

The 2nd guitar bothers me a great deal. With that classic hollow body design, the fender strat headstock offends me greatly.... for no particular reasons I suppose, just me being conditioned by gibson I suppose!!!

I actually see a boot with lace eyelets. I like the guitar though.

Well... I have a feeling this thread just cost me $700 8)

I've wanted a Starcaster for a long time but could never justify over $3000 for one just because Radiohead used them.

No kidding. And I'm sure they were a lot less before they used them.

I was looking at a very cool original Gretsch Duo Jet for something like $375 and was about to bite the bullet when Joe Perry appeared on the cover of Guitar World with one and the price tripled overnight.... grr.

Know exactly what you mean. Fender acoustics with the 6 on one side headstocks just don't look right to me either. Acoustics should be 3 a side, or 6 on both sides!

I do love Fenders generally, so it really isn't that!

I agree that all this happened, but the current trend in "vintage" instruments is to overprice everything, even without player associations.

i don't think there's enough box behind the pickups on those guitars. i like the signature gretsch sound in general. these, however, sound thin to me and always have. perhaps intended, but i don't care for it.

never got radiohead either...

Word on the street is these are PRC made Fenders (price would seem to corroborate that). I'm not sure if that's good or bad, as all the Fenders I've ever had were USA made. I'll have to wait to play one before I pull the trigger.

Fender have really expanded lately. It used to be that Epiphone had a lot more cooler models, now Squier and Fender have so much cool stuff, and the Pawn Shop amps are pretty cool too. Hopefully they didn't overcalculate the expansion, because it's not the best economic time.

But for some reason I can't find the Mustang guitars where I live, the Jaguars and Jazzmasters are in the shops though.

Fender offers plenty of new models based on old models (tele 72, etc). Smart move.

The counterpart is lots of these guitars are made in Asia with the Fender logo on.
Not sure elitist people who liked to have Fender and not Squier may be reluctant.
