Post by BRC » Fri Aug 30, 2013 12:33 am

Not a rant or anything, just a little bummed out that my Les Paul sounds awful muddy with my new Rockerverb..I just got it, mated it with my Orange 2x12 CB (Black) and yuuch...Now my SG sounds pretty good, but my LP is my go to....It has BurstBucker's that I didnt test it with the Rockerverb...(Yea, I know)...Any suggestions... :?:

It's a 100 watt amp. Have you tried cranking up the volume a bit to see how it sounds? Try also cranking up the volume and using the Gain to set the volume levels, giving maximum power tube saturation.

Also, Make sure your Tone knob on your guitar is at 10, and adjust the full EQ on the amp appropriately... roll back the bass, up the treble and try the mids on full even.

I've seen PLENTY of bands use the Rockerverb 100 with Les Pauls and it sounds amazing.

And yes... P90's sound the best.

I recently got a Les Paul with burstbuckers. It sounds great with low gain, but overall the burstbuckers don't impress me at all.

Try lowering your pickups, I much prefer my SG's humbuckers adjusted a bit lower than most, gives a more open sound over all....less compressed and boomy, more jangley.

You know, It DOES seem like my Strat sounds better through my pix than my Carvin CS6. But it's just so pretty! lol I have Duncan pups in the CS6. And I also keep my pups a little lower than normal. It just sounds better to me. :)

Already been said ("0000") but worth repeating: Roll back the bass when using your LP. If that doesn't help than there are other solutions, but usually the simplest ones are the best! 8)

i never thought the RV100 I had sounded good until the volume was at 1:00, that is crazy I know, but that is what I thought.....that being said, make use of the effects loop with an eq pedal, that will give you a lot of control over it I would think....

Again echoeing what has been said, sometimes you have to think outside of your habits and get extreme on the amp controls....I am bad to expect every amp to sound good with all controls at noon, so it takes me a long time to finally give in and fiddle with the dials, go extreme and and in between, I am sure you can dial it in.....

Maybe go with some different preamp tubes too, when you get around to it

It's your pups. Just get some '57 classics and forget about it. I had the RV50 and it was not clear enough for a strat, but perfect with humbuckers.

Burstbuckers are dark pickups. Not a fan.

Are these the BB 1 and 2's or 3's or pros?

So many darn ones to choose from?

I thought I liked the 1 and 2's better than the 57's, but I only played them through a fender bassman clean....

I have 57's in my 61' though and have never been unhappy with the tone I get through any Orange I have ever played.......as related to this thread (never sounded muddy)

I have 57s in my Les Paul (as previously in my SG) they are quite bright pickups that I do think sound very very good with an Orange....That said,..... I usually play a Strat......
