ad30 and balanced pre amps for the phase invertors

I understand the Ad30 has 2 preamps for the 2 phase inverters. Do these tubes need to be balancsed? I have 4 ecc83s only one is balanced

No, the valves don't need to be balanced either way. Just shove in whatever sounds best. It's a bit of a fudge by sellers to tell you that they do.

Exactly right - just trust your ears!

While the people selling valves make it sound convincing in 99.9% of guitar amps there is actually zero benefit to using 'self matched' valves for the PI slot. Unless you happen to have something like a 200W Marshall Major or 200 / 400W Hiwatt you can safely ignore them!
