First gig in soooooo many years

Post by enricoromanielo » Mon Aug 26, 2013 2:22 pm

Hey guys!

So, this weekeng I played my first gig since I was 17 (11 years ago). First opportunity to use the Rocker 30 with a PPC212OB live!

We played for about 70 people in a party, and we were the last band. First bands played classic rock, grunge and Brazilian rock.

This was our setlist:

1) Jumping Jack Flash
2) Fortunate Son
3) Born to be Wild
4) Tie Your Mother Down
5) If You Want Blood (You got it)
6) Sharp Dressed Man
7) Hound Dog
8) Jailhouse Rock
9) Don’t Be Cruel
10) All Shook Up
11) Learn to Fly
12) Boys Are Back in Town
13) Mama Kin
14) Basket Case
15) Nice Guys Finish Last
16) What a Wonderful World (Joey Ramone)
17) Ring of Fire (Social Distortion version)
18) Black Night
19) Paranoid
20) For Whom The Bell Tolls
21) House is Rocking
22) Dirty Deeds
23) Whole Lotta Rosie
24) Highway to Hell

It was sooo much fun!! The crowd seemed to really enjoy the songs, and everybody in the band (a three piece) had a very good time!

The Rocker 30 was amazing! Everybody came to compliment me on my tone (I used it with a Les Paul Traditional and a Gretsch 6120 - AMAZING!) 8)

However, we made some preety rookie mistakes in some songs... I could not believe that, after several hours of rehearsal, we did some preety basic mistakes... :x Oh well...

Anyway, just wanted to share with you guys the experience!

Cheers

Must take some doing singing and playing at the same time...

Nice! What are you using on the Rocker? Natural/Dirty/footswitching both?

Thanks man! One my favorite ACDC songs. Love playing it! And the lyrics are awesome! Bon Scott's the man! 8)

 Actually, after going to Law School, I (unfortunately) could not find the time to play in bands. It was only after I graduated and started working in a firm that I could finally find some people and time to start a new band. And it has been great!

As for the singing and playing, it can get hard sometimes... ACDC stuff can be particularly tricky to do, specially Malcom's riffs. But I love doing it!! Got exhausted after playing for nearly two hours (I was so excited that I could not stop moving! )

And yes, I am using the dirty channel of the Rocker, with a Suhr Shiba Drive as a boost for leads (not in every song though). For the Metallica stuff, I used a Suhr Riot on the Natural Channel. Sounded really good there, the cam does not do it justice!

Thanks bro! The Rocker keeps amazing me! This was the first time I had the opportunity to really crank it using my PPC212... On rehearsals, I just used whatever cabinet the studio has available (and usually the speakers are allready a mess). I just love this amp!

Amp tone aside, I'm sure you could have made any amp sound good as that had to be a product of your playing. Sounded great for real.

I've got an SG that I play, but hearing this LP makes me wonder if I'm missing something. I just can't get comfortable playing an LP because I struggle with the guitar anyway and the thin neck and complete access the 61' SG gives me makes life a bit easier
