My New OR100 arrived!

Post by fossil » Tue Jul 30, 2013 2:30 am

New to the forum here, but a long time Orange user (Rockerverb 50 Limited in White) and just had to spout a bit about the OR100. Absolutely awesome amp that just melted my face in about 5 seconds. Fabulous cleans to my ears and stellar drive tones. I'm a metal guy and this will definitely be replacing my Mesa Dual for live work because the OR just rips right thru the bass and drums. The links are my Rocker with either 7 or 6 guitars and a Mesa Recto 2x12.

Hey guys will try to get some pics up. On holiday as I just left today. Quick review of the OR100 vs The Rocker 50. First and foremost since my Rocker uses 6V6's and the OR is using El 34s it subjective about the perceived headroom and overall tone. I've used the Rocker to record 2 CDs now and it been absolutely stellar in it's performance and tone. Tight, heavy and articulate. The OR in my side by side cranked comparison is is just more robust and tone full. Makes playing seem effortless. Spongy and huge, but still with a very defined mid range and cut. I've blasted 7 and 6 stringers thru it and was very impressed with the overall presence of the amp. Mind you I'm in a 1 guitar band at the moment so the mass of this amp is welcome. If I was doing the 2 guitar thing I might opt for the Rocker because it's a little thinner on the bottom end, but that's me speaking from the 6V6 end of things because I've never blasted a Rocker with El 34's. All in all it's a goddam beast with great build qualities and outstanding tone both clean and dirty. Butt f'in simple, but flexible because of the gain and volume boost. Made me pile of poop myself and after owning Mesa, Marshall and Laney so that's some nice company.

Hi fossil. Welcome to the forum. Glad you like the new amp so much.

Just so you know, your other amp is a 'Rockerverb'. There was a 'Rocker' model, but it was a 30 watter and a pretty different amp to the RV.

Oh and just so you know too, it was a great amp, real big favourite with quite a few of us here. If you ever get the chance to try one...

Hey Andy I'm familiar with the Rocker 30. I just call my amp the Rocker, because it well, does and I never use the damn reverb! :D
