I just leave my OR120 cooking and turn the volume down during breaks. I've never had a problem w/out a standby switch.
Always been my policy too. Goes on at the start, stays on until I'm done. Boy does it sound monster after a half hour or so...

it does sound better after it has been on awhile. I know that tubes generally have to warm up in any amp, but it seems to make a bigger difference in the OR

Hey all, this is my first post on here. Done plenty reading though.
I've got one of these OTR combo's. Seems to be one of the early 90's first run batch. My one loves being driven, and particularly loves a driven octaver through it. It's a dirty girl.
Just wondered if anyone's ever valued one? I know it's a bit of a rarity and I'd like to put it on my home contents cover.
Thanks

Hey, welcome aboard!
Value is tricky and depends on location location location! If you're in London, I would suspect you could get a little more than other areas of the UK. Still, I'd look at what the heads are going for on ebay (or if you're lucky enough to find a combo on there) and see what they sell for. Head would be easier to find and then add maybe £200-300 or so for it being a combo. Is it a heavy beast? Because I think that turns off prospective buyers because of the weight and transport issues....

For what it's worth, the OTR was more like early 2000's. The reissue OR80s and OR120s were early/mid 90s.

MY OTR has caps stamped '98
My chassis says 'OR80', but the board on the inside has the OTR box checked off (and my tech checked the specks, it's an OTR). Some internet folk have told me it was probably rewired/upgraded to a 120watt (adding two extra tubes) but the wiring job is so impeccable and consistent that I doubt the 4 tube sockets (and wiring) aren't original.
It was bought new from a store with all 4 tubes.
In the last month I've been ignoring my standby switch and just using the master volume.. works fine enough!
no more reaching in the back.

Interesting fact, the OTR featured in the Orange book is mine, photographed in my back garden.

Very cool amps.
Montag, if this amp is for sale, shoot me a PM. I'm in CT. Provided Billy isn't interested, of course.

Billy, you say this as if it's a reason against accumulating more.
You still have your OR head(s)?

Yes, I do.
Did a gig Saturday night with both AD30TC's running in stereo. WAY too loud. I think I'll be bringing only one of them from now on. Maybe.
Was in the unusual situation of having monitors that were way too loud also. Hurt my ears at one point so I need to better manage my onstage sound...

Nice. Hang on to the '78 (if I recall correctly). That one is very clean.
2 AD30's is too much. I have trouble winding my *one* AD30 up in most places we play.
FWIW, something i've done with reasonably good luck, is used an attenuator in *parallel* with the amp. It becomes a load box that sucks half the power of the amp without being in line with the signal (thus, not affecting the sound at all, outside of the volume being lowered and the speakers not being driven as hard).
