I've been recording yesterday and they had one there. I plugged straight in and had no problem finding great Marshall sounds at an instance. Crunch, lead and even clean - it's all there. Anybody playing/played one of them?
BTW- That was my first positive experience with a Marshall. Had an early 80s JCM800 at a practise space that always sounded harsh, no matter how I dialed it in + a backline jvm410 at a gig that sounded very flat and sterile.

yep, a JVM with a good retube (5751 in preamp) really is a good amp!

The other guitarist in the band I'm in uses one. Its good. Ive used it several times but tone wise I much prefer my AD30 or Rocker

Re: Marshall JVM205H
The JVM205H had my interest, but after checking out tons of reviews/demos, I've pretty much decided it's not for me. The gain just doesn't sound all that great, the same bright somewhat harsh grating tone (at least to my ears).

Re: Marshall JVM205H
I tried some - pretty good Marshall tone I found. Tried both the jvm205 and later on a jvm410. I was reasonably impressed but would have no use for one.
Similarly, I recently tried a vintage modern - sounded like a great amp. But I wouldn't use much if I had one. Great classic Marshall tone too there.

Part of the fun was, that I could really crank it to generate some nice feedback. Talking about flapping trousers.

Re: Marshall JVM205H
Yeah, I own a JVM410 half-stack and I tend to stay around Crunch-Amber and Crunch-Red modes. The OD channels sound just a bit fizzy to me, but that's probably just because it's a sh*t-ton of pre-amp distortion. It's a bad-ass amp, though, no doubt.

Re: Marshall JVM205H
Jepp, thats the two I recorded with. I tried Crunch-Amber first and got a nice sound within seconds. When it was time for leads I simply switched to red. That was it. Would be cool if Marshall built an amp with just that two modes.FFXIhealer wrote:...I tend to stay around Crunch-Amber and Crunch-Red modes...
