Album Released (Orange content)

Post by philhed » Wed Jan 16, 2013 5:27 pm

Hey Folks!

We just released our first Album "Taken Apart" which contains 9 psychedelic flavored pop/rock songs.
On all songs were used (among others) an AD30HTC for rhythm guitar and for bass a Bass Terror 500 with an SP212.
+ the fox is orange!

One half of the album was recorded in a studio (the band playing live) and the other half (overdubs) in the studio i set up in my basement where we recorded stuff like:

Vocals, percussion, sitar, strings, flute, acc-Guitar, some lead guitar stuff......

here´s a little teaser we made from photos and videos we shot during the recordings featuring a songe from the album where you can see how it was done if you´re interested:

and here´s the link to our youtube channel where the songs where just uploaded

opinions welcome!

cheers!

Spam, but good spam.

Sounds good. Like the unconventional mix. There is apparently a rule which says that bass and drums must be centre mixed. I like hearing that rule broken! 8)

Good luck with it.

Sounds great! Nice melodic feel to it where you can get lost in the song.

yah....i think that´s due to the fact that we mixed it by ourselves without having it learnt properly. So we tried some stuff that a "real" Audio engineer would probably never do and it wasn´t all that bad.
we did a lot of panning experiments and this was just the way it sounded best to us which surely doesn´t mean that this is the "best" way the songs could be mixed, but as you (as many others who know a lot more about mixing and recording than we do) mentioned, it´s unconventional but not bad...and we liked that.
it was pretty difficult for the guy who mastered it, but he didn´t want us to change it because he liked it as it is.

cheers
