Love for the Timmy

Now, bear in mind when I say this that I have bought and sold the OCD three times, so i like it. Most recently I have had that as my first stage OD and switching to a Riot for lead tones.

However, I have been intreigued about the Timmy for a long time, and as I heard they stacked very well into the OCD to make a lead tone, I thought I would pick one up.

Wow.

It's the first OD I have tried that made me think I didnt like the OCD.

Really thick, juicy controlled drive, great harmonics and dynamics and clear across the range of notes. The addition of treble and bass controls (cut controls) really help.

I'm comparison, for the first time I thought the OCD sounded thin and characterless.

That said the two do stack very very well in just the way I was hoping.
Hype can be believed on this one I feel.

I would love to get my hands on a Timmy. Fat Sound is sold out. Are there other places that sell them?

prymaxe occasionally has them. the best way to get it is through the builder, Paul C. there's usually a wait, but they're really cheap.

I tried to build one a few months back, screwed up somewhere along the way and couldn't figure out where or why. I'm bringing it to a friend sooner or later to get checked out, I'm dying to try it! If it sounds good ill buy a real one eventually!

Update on this which means I like the Timmy even more.

I was running the Timmy into the OCD.

Then was reading that most consider the Timmy best used at the end of the OD chain in order to take advantage of the Timmy's tone circuit.

So swapped them around today and I have to say I'm even more impressed. With the OCD last, the tone was there but it was a bit muddy.

With the Timmy last (no changes to controls on either pedal) and was like the old blanket was taken off, much tighter, clearer, more distinct more quality overall.

Great stuff, great pedal.

i kept trying to find something better than the OCD... but then i realised that for me, it doesn't exist

swapped my timmy for a frantone peachfuzz a few weeks after getting it...

i got the far better deal on that trade

Just got one for my Superbass. Very good and not overpriced. Tweakable and transparent tone. Can't decide if I like it or the Rockett Animal better though. Timmy cleans up better and the range is more usable. The Animal has that "smooth but mean" thing. I think the Timmy will work better with my R30, yet to try.
