I've been searching for THIS guitar for quite some time and finally bought her yesterday.
I wanted a plaintop tobacco sunburst and found this used early 90s beauty in a shop.
Put new strings on her + an aluminium tailpiece. With the ad30 it's instant led zeppelin.
I have some nice handwound pickups here wich I intended to install in her but so far I
really like the stock pickups. They read 7,5 and 13,4(!!!) kOhm, anybody an idea wich
pickups it is?
Anyway, back to playing that guitar
Cheers
Ben

I have something coming new, too.... I haven't told anyone about it, so keep it under your hat.
I'll post some pix when it arrives... very psyched.

That is purty. Not sure what the pickups would be. I just picked up a new to me Gibson as well.

Do like a nice 'baccy burst. Nice guitar. Enjoy!
(Just been enjoying my double octave 'baccy burst Jazz Bass this very evening.)
So what has Billy got coming then? Not another Tele?
Andy.

Thanks everyone.
Hey Andy, our bassist has a '76 'baccy burst Precision bass that sounds and looks awesome.
Hey Billy, didn't you marry this year as well. The Les Paul is my first postmarital guitar purchase (though I already bought an amp (aer compact 60 - awesome acoustic and archtop amp + micro PA)).
I was a little uncertain as to how she'd react to spending that money but she was totally cool - 'Shure, if you want it... wow, thats a beautiful guitar' ;D awesome girl

Congrats on the guitar! 90's Gibsons are a great era. Both my Les Pauls are from the early/mid 90's. Great guitars.
It sounds like you have a 490R and a 498T in there. That's what my 1992 Studio is stocked with. I have a 1995 Standard that is stocked with a 496R and a 500T. Below is a table of Gibson pickup resistances that may be of interest to you.
Enjoy the guitar!

My Jazz is a totally different beastie, a Korean made '07 - '08 Deluxe Jazz Bass 24. This was Fenders own first take on doing a modified active preamp 'super Jazz' style bass, and AFAIK the only 24 fret Jazz they have yet done. I already had a vintage sounding (non Fender) 'J' and fancied something more modern sounding. This does that and I've even found a setting which is a really good take on a 'P' bass, something you just can't normally get on a Jazz. Good bass, nice quality, very versatile, and I'm happy to say the quilted maple top on mine is fairly subdued compared to many of them out there.

Always fancied a nice tobacco sunburst 'something', and this turned out to be it for me.
Enjoying the LP then I take it?
Andy.
