Best 2x12 cab (and speakers!!) for a retro 50 and TTHW

Last cabinet thread I hope!!!

Really need to get a decent cab for my amps to replace my knackered 70's marshall 2x12.

I'm in the UK, Have a decent amount of budget, and want to get something that does the amps justice.

I'm playing a retro 50 and a tiny terror hardwired.

I have no real preference, but it would be great if I could get something practical, compactish and not too heavy!!!!

Grab an Orange cab, sell the V30s and replace them with something else.

I'm loving the Weber Legacys with my Retro. I've got the M style, 30oz., 65w versions with 55hz cones. They sound fat and sweet. HUGE HUGE HUGE improvement over the V30s I had before.

Not sure if you can get them in the UK, though. If you can't get a G12M-type speaker with 55hz cones (for bass), I would recommend a 1230 or 1265 variant. Celestion just came out with the Creambacks, which would probably sound really nice too. Good luck!

How about Matamp - they can knock you up a nice 2x12, convertible (OB/CB Panel), loaded with your choice of drivers, finished to your spec. Kinda keeps it in the family as well...

Standard Orange 2x12 with V30 sound great at gigvolume. If you want a cabinet mainly for home use get some low efficient greenbacks or the like as described a few posts before

I can second the orange 2x12, they sound great and I don't love v30s. But still a really good sounding cab

I have to second that, matamp came up with a slanted cab so the directional speakers hit your ear a bit more, and are diagonal, and is a convertible open back which is nice for a better spread instead of lazer directional sound aimed at your shins and knees and not aimed at your ears. I like my orange cab, but I wish orange made this matamp version which I think is the best designed cab yet.

also consider if you want the cab lighter, to get neo speakers as they weigh 4 pounds each
