Post by cica1066 » Fri Aug 31, 2012 8:12 pm

heya all again. Im gonna be going off to uni tomorrow and I'm taking my rocker 30 combo one electric and my acoustic. Any tips with keeping them safe or can I insure them. Also any tips on how to find other musicians to make a band. Any help appreciated.

Yes insurance for students I used Endsleigh for years. Were cheap back then when not many companies would insure students.

Making a band.... well Gumtree is good. Otherwise posters at uni maybe, and generally use the internet..

Good luck

Your parents insurance company might be able to cover them. Otherwise you may have to take your own insurance.

But having insurance is one thing - respecting the insurance policy t&c can be tricky if you live in shared accomodations.

As to getting a band going.... That'll probably easier than the studying malarky!!! ;)

what uni you going to and what course are you studying?

if you're on a music course, you may need it for the assesments?

are you goin into halls? if you do... the first week, everyones finding thier feet, making friends, etc. put the word out that you're lookin then!

+1 parents insurance. My bands gear got stolen... it was returned in a few days. My dad said he could claim the stuff.

You can get specialist music insurance that isn't too expensive. I use Allianz Powerplay. You should check the terms for a couple of providers though because some are better than other.

As above, check your home insurance first... it may be covered under it.

I insure my more expensive guitars that I gig with under Endsleigh. Cheapest musical instrument insurance i've found, and excellent cover levels - they will do accidental damage at venues etc, and theft from unattended vehicle more cheaply than anyone else i've come across.
