Orange #4 Jim Root & PPC 112

Post by Ratzidopex » Fri Jul 06, 2012 10:24 pm

Hey all.I am George a new member here.First of all i want to thank Alex for taking the time to help me out with a number of issues with my registration. For some days now i am an owner of an Orange Jim Root amp with a PPC-112 cab.First Orange amp for me and all i can say is that i am really impressed.I wanted a Metal amp which can perform on lower volumes since i live in appartment. The amp is definately loud but can also give some nice tones without disturbing the neighbours. With x3 ECC83,x1ECC82 and 2 EL84 it is really a big amp in a small box if you ask me.It has a lot of mid presence and the V30 only adds some more, maybe the Jim Root cab would have been more appropriate.I might actually try changing the speaker of the 112 with a G12T-75 to balance the mids a bit.The amp is really aggressive and has all the gain you need.Overall a top of the line lunchbox amplifier.

I was thinking about getting a Jim root cab last weekend but went with the PPC1x12. Much better can IMO. Got another yesterday. I'm using a dark terror though. Like the black cab

Congrats and welcome!

Played a Jim Root in the shop the other day and think it can do clean and crunch also really well (better than the Tiny Terror I used to own).

nice! i'll be using the exact same setup come thursday. i ordered the JRT last night :)
i already have the ppc112 (in orange, pretty sweet cab). ive been using a dark terror, which i cant say ive ever really liked. so when the jim root came out i decided to take the plunge. im a little bitter about the dark terror i guess. i did start using it with an mxr 10 band in the fx loop and it got better but never really RIGHT

anyway, yeah TOTALLY looking forward to checking out the jim root. im hoping it's pretty close to my rockerverb 100 mkII ;) . the RV lives at the practice space, the jim root will be for home vibes
