Analog Delay with Orange?

I'm in need of warm & lush analog delay. I want to use this pedal with my TT, I crank the amp all the way but I don't use that much gain. I am thinking either the MXR CC or the EH Memory Toy. Any feedback guys?

Jam Pedals Delay Llama is a great analogue pedal.

If you want to see a big write up on delay pedals, check this post out.

Thanks! Good info there. I generally won't buy cork sniffer pedals though, I seem to end up liking the classics best even after I try the boutique stuff, especially when you throw the cost into the equation!

carbon copy, except it may be a little TOO warm. it's a very dark sounding delay, but i happen to like that.

otherwise, you should look at strymon stuff (hope that's not too corksniffery). their El Capistan is the warmest delay pedal i've ever had the pleasure of playing.

Well every pedal I tried, except for the MG, was under $300AUD, so they wouldn't really enter the realm of cork sniffer considering the Carbon Copy costs $299 RRP here.

I imagine they cost even less in North America.

I have owned the MXR Carbon Copy and the Memory Boy Deluxe. Both are really good, the CC is less noisy but the MMD has more options like tap delay.

The Carbon Copy sounds pretty good in front of my Dual Terror but keeping the mix and regen knobs really low (9 o'clock or lower) has been key. I actually bought the pedal to try with a TT and then sold it cause I didn't like it. Then I went back and gave it a 2nd chance and I've been happy with it since keeping all of the knobs really low. It helps if you don't crank the gain on the amp too.

I use a TC flashback with my DkT. I like it, very versatile.

I tried the Pro Guitar Shop special version of the Flashback but I ended up sending it back. It was a good delay but I would say I probably prefer the Carbon Copy just on straight tone. If I needed more versatility I would go with the Flashback (which is digital) in that price point.

Honestly though the Strymon El Capistan made me shelve the CC so fast that I'm not even really sure where it's at right now. It's in the music room somewhere. The El Cap is a great pedal and I'm pretty set on it now.

i use a malekko ekko 616, fantastic sounding bucket brigade analog delay, not as warm as a carbon copy, but warmer than digital sounds. it even has a buffered/true bypass mode, that gets me into old floyd regions... fantastic; tons of reviews of it on youtube. good luck-

When in doubt, listen to Andy...

I'm a carbon copy user. It's all I need and more. If I had to cut back to only one pedal, the carbon copy would be it!

However, we all know you really posted to fuel the GAS, this next pedal has definitely piqued my interest.

Well you've not been specific about what you are seeking in a delay pedal. Digital analgue sim vs BBD vs real tape. Clean transparent sonics and a certain lushness in the overall sound plus playing nicely infront of an amp and with other pedals starts to narrow down the options - should that be what you are seeking. Digital such as the Strymon Timeline and Empress Vintage modified Superdelay offer reverse and a plethora of sonic options. However, as nobody has suggested the Diamond Memory Lane 2 and it is a superbly engineered ultra quiet BBD 560ms with tap tempo and a supremely lush but tweakable sound palette I will suggest that but £375 in the UK and $599 US - note my TT use though i.e it works brilliantly infront of the TT. I also love my WEM Watkins 60's valve tape delay (more character more drive more noise) and also use Yamaha D5000 and TC 2000 rack units. Many users rave about the Strymon Timeline for its power 12 delay modes 200 presets and fidelity and their other earlier digital sim pedals the Brigadier and El Cap. If I buy another delay pedal it will be the Timeline but the Diamond Memory Lane 2 is sheer sonic class and worth every penny. You could also consider Analogman analog delay with controller and Moog delay pedal. My priority was sonics and noise floor with useability but for that you have to pay!

Hey all, I ended up picking up the Memory Toy and I haven't had a lot of time with it yet but so far I like it ok. It's warm, and works ok up front. I'm not a pedal person so pedals almost always disappoint me. It's not the pedals, it's me. I always seems to tire of pedals very quickly and I love a pure guitar into amp tone. But with the TT I wanted to add some ambience and this seems to fit the bill. I appreciate all the good suggestions too!
