Orange spotting: Dead meadow

Post by starling1 » Mon Jun 25, 2012 6:58 am

I mainly listen to post rock/ shoegaze stuff these days, but I came across this band recently and I'm quite enjoying them. Kind of sabbathy/moody blues psychedelia stuff.

A fine rock band.

Dead Meadow is amazing. They're kind of like a stoner band covering indie rock stuff or something. Love them.

Fine rock band indeed! I first heard of them when watching the stoner rock doc Such Hawks, Such Hounds. I checked the band out after and threw a few albums on my iPod, like their grooviness!

I dig them too. Tasteful stoner psych.

Maybe I'm getting old if I think 'tasteful' is a cool way to describe a rock band!...

I'm a big fan too and love his tone. The last two times I saw them they didn't use any Orange gear though. Jason was using a Marshall Plexi halfstack and a really old forn coloured fender 4x10 combo. Steve was using an Ampeg SVT head and 8x10.

They sounded incredible, loudest band I've ever seen. They get your rib cage rumbling.

With a different rig they still totslly sounded Dead Meadow, not an ounce of difference. Maybe it's true about a great guitarist will sound like himself through any rig or maybe it's that beautiful Telecaster Plus.

Yea, what a fantastic band! Love their groove & psychedelia.. I used to listen to them a lot about 5+ years ago, thanks for reminding :)

I especially recommend the self-titled album. They must be a freakin' great live band.
