Post by Duppy03 » Wed Jun 06, 2012 9:40 am

Does the Natural channel of the Rocker 30 take pedals well?

IMO yes. With ODs and dirt that have nice EQ sections, you get plenty of control if needed, too.

Natural is cool because it's just a single preamp tube then all power tube flavor. Nice and direct. Your guitar and pedal's personalities are mainlined.

better judged by 12 than lowered by 6

with dirt pedals, just stay away from TS types. the natural channel is pretty middy, so adding a TS will make it sound flat out boxy.

but with more "Flat" Overdrive pedals (Timmy, OCD, Morning Glory, etc) it works really, really well. alternatively, you could always get a simple EQ pedal to take out some of the midrange if you wanted to use a TS. having an EQ on the natural channel is very useful anyways.

I had thought that an EQ pedal might be a good addition to the natural channel but was wondering if the EQ of my pedals might do the trick.

The pedals I'm currently using are a Wheebo Effekte JCM Drive and a Tone Freak Severe.

Just try it out. If it sounds good then it is good. I use a regular EQ pedal on mine and I like it.

mine did - in fact i think the natural channel is better voiced than the dirty channel :)

shame it was not loud enough to gig or practice with unmic'd... hence it's now owned by someone else

Is the Pope German :D ?

I played around with a few H.B.E. pedals over the weekend though the Natural Channel and thought it was pretty transparent (aside from the obligatory Orange darkness that I like so much). I used a Mock I (delay), CPR (compressor), and Uno Mos (boost). The boost is pretty much a necessity to get to gigging volumes with the Natural Channel.

you're trying to tell me that the natural channel on 4 (max) is able to contend with a loud drummer, unmic'd - in a live gig situation?

is your drummer's kit made out of bath foam?
