I like Metallica, they've done some amazing things but their live sound is sounding pretty shite in that clip.

And he's got a massive bogey up his nose too in that clip. He should really seek and destroy it asap.

Seriously though, that's not the greatest Metallica clip I've ever seen... I really like that Explorer though! Anyone got any idea what it is?

I think metallica are great composers. Their music has been deep and innovative. Along with other great groups they made metal part of mainstream culture.

But, comparing them to the beatles... can result to metallica joke threads like this one (best case senario).

Well, personally, I think the beatles stink to high heaven. I have never liked the beatles, and I think that they continue to be way overated. I understand the times were different back then, but even so, there were many other bands/artists back then that I like way better.

I don't think a Metallica to beatles comparison holds any water, regardless of how well you like either band.

Well, personally, I enjoy both bands. I agree that a comparison is out of place not because one is great and the other is not. That's lame. Different eras, different achievements, different styles.

I find it strange that people follow bands in a religious way and claim one is better than the other as they were football teams.

That's a good observation. It not like the band with the most points wins here, it's all subjective as to what speaks the individual that listens to it. Although, I guess record sells could be the record companies' version of points scored. I agree. Who gives a hoot how "successful" and act is.......? is do YOU like it?

I guess success = exposure, but with the internet that is changing. I'm so glad Al Gore invented it.
