"Vajazzle." Wow.

So...can one of you tell me what the "IX" means or represents under the image (aside from the obvious #9)?

As ECW says, more popular way back when - "Rule Brittania" and all that...

"a rhetorical evocation of a British national identity. Especially following the Acts of Union in 1707, which joined the Kingdoms of England and Scotland, the personification of the martial Britannia was used as an emblem of British imperial power and unity..."

and Britannia in bold is the correct spelling...

Allegedly it's legal still to kill a Scotsman within York's city walls using a bow and arrow so long as it's not on a Sunday.

An old York byelaw that still stands apparently!
Now you know why Gordon Brown never visited

Yeah we have this 6 hours maximum trading time now on Sundays over here...
Some big DIY stores open their doors an hour before they do the tills to eek it out a bit more

So shopping at least is legal now on a Sunday :)

Oh, York? I somehow misread that as New York.

I've been to York right enough. Seemed like a nice place - I never realised. Wow, lucky escape then...
