Fender Pawn Shop 2.0 What We Thinking?

Post by chimpboyjay1 » Wed May 02, 2012 10:52 am

Don't think anyone has posted these up yet, but fender have just released a new set of pawn shop guitars!

The HH Fender Mustang in a new colour.

What do you recon guys! Personally I liked the mustang, but I never liked the red of the blue colour, so the sunburst in a welcome addition!

I'm also very intrigued by the jaguarillo, love the faded sonic blue, love the streamlined controls, just sort of wish it the pickups were straight!

Can't stand the look of the offset special, but each to there own!

And well the reverse jaguar bass, I want one... but I don't know why!

I wonder how effective and good those tremolos are?

Big fender fan, but I must say that those guitars are absolutely ugly as sin. Hence, pawn shop series. I kinda like it! Are these MIM guitars?

I have never seen a Mustang and thought I could get along with that guitar...... Until now. That looks sweet! I like that it's a hard tail too.

good observation and question about the tremelo.

i broke the tremolo in my favorite strat; a mid 80's american plus [with reissue pickups].
i had to replace the entire block. the trem worked very well, but once you break it off you're in a real bind. the threaded style has its hazards. i have another am/plus that has a pop-in tremelo but the block is awful as a whole. it has these tiny wedges for each string, and if you lose one you're sunk. so, i'm replacing it with a standard block, hopefully with a pop-in tremelo. we'll see......

Loving the bottom three, especially the bass. That thinline guitar looks WAY better in pink, and the Jaguar is nicer in red too: http://www.fender.com/products/pawnshop" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

That bass is suh-weet! I want one, too - but if they did a guitar like that, I'd want it even more. There's something about the look of a lefty Jaguar that really does it for me...

and the Mustang and whatever-illo look good too.

That third guitar will only sell to 80's casualties.

I've always really wanted a Squire Supersonic, but in a vintage burst! A reverse version of that Mustang special would be mental! That said, I really dig the look of the 'stang special as it is!

I think naming a guitar the offset was a stupid move for fender. Also most of these are stupid but eventually Fender is going to hit a home run with one of these pawn shop offset style guitars.

I also hope fender doesn't watch these flop and think hmmm I guess no one likes offsets after all.

The Mustang is nice but those pickups would have to be swapped out for more authentic styled WRHB. The modern Fender WRHB are awful.

The Reverse Jaguar Bass is a rather cruel answer to the Thunderbird if you ask me. Gibson's share of the bass market is pathetic compared to Fender, and the T-Bird is really the only thing that they have going for them. The SG/EB-0 is useless to most bass players and none of the other models ever really caught-on in a meaningful way. Fender doesn't need to rub it in by coming out with a better alternative for half the price. Jerks  !

They actually aren't wide range humbuckers, they are fender enforcer humbuckers, just with covers to make them look like the wide ranges!

I really love that bass! I'd take on. Makes me want to build some crazy Warmoth custom build. :? :)

Yeah that reverse Jag looks great.

Slightly cruel but IMO totally fair comment!

Can't say I hate it. Same colour as 'PIP', my own 'Precision In Pink' in fact, though 'PIP' has a dark red tortie pickguard to offset the colour. Works for me. :D

Don't know. The first Pawn Shop series models last year were MIJ though! :D

I'd agree with the T-Bird comment except it's a well-known fact that the Firebirds/Thunderbirds were Gibson flipping over the Fenders and copying them! A lefty Jag is still a lefty Jag, not a Gibson copy!
