how many own 2 of the exact same amp?
Is it overkill? how many of you have 2 of the same?
I guess somewhere along the way I've developed a bit of an obsession, but I'm thinking that 2 of everything doesn't sound bad.

I understand. Been there. So far, I've been able to self-talk my way through those compulsive moments. If I had more money I'd be dangerous

what did you have? 2 OR's? do you still have your OR120?nlimbaugh wrote:I understand. Been there.

I still have my OR80 (of course). But, I've found myself 'shopping for' the same stuff I already have (and love). Like children, once you have one you get scared something might happen to them so you gotta have another just in case. Too bad kids don't get cheaper the more cosmetic imperfections they come with btw: I finally tempered the JJ KT77 powertubes. For pre amp tubes, I'm running an old 5150 Jan Phillips in V1 and an old 12AT7 RCA in V2. I can manage the beast at 3 o'clock

I'd buy a Hellcat head if I could afford it. That way I could run stereo effects and different EQ settings.
I just don't have aspare $3k to blow on a whim.

Hellcat, I gotta try one.....but then I'd want 2.
Re: how many own 2 of the exact same amp?
I think it's an identity thing for me, ha ha. Like when I see an AD all I see are those two rows of knobs... how could I buy something with two rows of knobs. I play an ES335 and when I see those kid little LP's... just can't do it. However, the extendz pills must be working because I was able to man up and buy an LP Special... it should be on its way!!! Damn ES330's just too expensive:lol:

You didn't buy the lp special on ebay with the neck repair did you? I almost sprung for that one.
I'm with you on the identity thing. I'm caught up on gear that is at least 70's era these days. I just seemed more inspired playing old stuff, even though the new stuff can do the old stuff equally as well in good hands.
Re: how many own 2 of the exact same amp?
I didn't get the neck repair one, but I did get it on ebay. I got a 1996 w/ p90's. Looks nice w/ some cosmetic issues (as needed). I have my fingers crossed. I think the seller seemed good. I was all about getting everything from the 70's because I figured the companies didn't know how to cut corners as well then. Now, maybe even the 70's is getting kinda old. At least that's what I tell myself because I can't afford much of that stuff right now. In all honesty, I could have bought a brand new LP special from a retailer (sight unseen) for a good deal, but I was more scared of that than buying the 1996 one from a stranger on the other side of the country.

There is a black tolex R.30C in one of the shops here in Amsterdam. It has been there for ages, taunting me. Someone please go and buy it and put me out of my misery. (And help keep my wife from putting me out of my misery for good!!!)
(They have an orange tolex one too but for some reason that one doesn't appeal so much!)
Andy.

Re: how many own 2 of the exact same amp?
I used to do this because I wanted to make sure I had a backup in case anything went wrong. That's why I had two Marshall Superleads (now gone), two Orange OR80M's, and two Marshall JTM-45's. Still have those.... also have backups for most of my guitars, too.

I was gonna say... Billy could just point to his sig pick to answer this question...bclaire wrote:I used to do this because I wanted to make sure I had a backup in case anything went wrong. Ok, I do need another OR80 for different tube configurations. I need to be able to go back and forth like that. I feel like I've fallen back off the boat
