This is one of my current favorite bands. His tone is unreal. Its a gold top lester through a Mesa markIII and an open back mesa 4x10 cab.

Listen at the end for the awesome wah part. (yes I just used awesome and wah in the same sentence)

Re: Worst expensive amp I've ever played...
neil, the ta-15 is a nice little amp. i've got one and it's handy; i don't use it much but its not bad.
on the whole, though, i don't care for the mesa theory. thats not mesa's fault - its mine based on what i like to play. i had a mark 4 for several years and while the distortion was good, the rest of it just didn't cut it.
style certainly matters. i was at a club several years ago and the guitarist had one of the "metal" styled recto mesa's. i played some blues through it and the crowd loved it, but, i think that was just a lucky moment because they never get to hear anything melodic or improvised. the under 30 crowd never gets a chance to hear some I,IV,V.
when they do, they think its a new invention.
to the point - i've played two dumbles and i was underwhelmed. sure, they were nice, but nothing different or better than the rest of the world. i'd rather my tv50, my ac30 any day.

Yeah they are awesome.Cordboard wrote: OMG, that is unreal Bob Mould like. Wow! Thanks for the heads up on these guys.
To the topic again though Engl something or other. It was just terrible. It didnt even have a bunch of knobs that I could mess with it was just big and ugly and sounded worse. I also played a matchless at a show one night that was very uninspiring.
Expensive amp I lust after though = Fargen olde 800 mkII

I will admit that I think if I got my hands on a Fargen Retro Classic I think I would be out some serious $$. On paper that thing looks absolutely killer.hellagnar Brosevelt wrote:Expensive amp I lust after though = Fargen olde 800 mkII

In your hands and to your ears its even better. If your a fan of any guitar based rock music your sound is in there and probably better than you ever imagined.Thinline_slim wrote:I will admit that I think if I got my hands on a Fargen Retro Classic I think I would be out some serious $$.
