Sold my Dual Terror on ebay.....

Post by Jondog » Mon Apr 02, 2012 2:03 pm

....got the bill today. $60, f'n theives. Sold on there as a last resort as I was getting a bunch of tire kickers everywhere else offering retarded trades. I'd be fine if it was $20 or so, whatever, but I sold the amp for $575 (nice deal in the first place!). Would of been happier keeping the thing as a back-up. FML

Ouch man.

I have sold some gear on eBay over the years but if it hits my eBay list then I have no use for it at all. If there's anything that I could even foresee using it in the future I just keep it.

I think they are taking like a straight 9% now off of anything under $1000 or something ridiculous like that. Plus I believe that 9% also get's tacked onto your shipping charges too.

And then there's the 3% from Paypal.

Ya man its a joke. I only go to Ebay as an absolute last resort now. Every time, between them and paypal, its about a 10% fee...then there's the shipping...

I think they need to quit counting the shipping as part of your selling fee. With the tracking feature and info entered there, one would think that the shipping fees could be verified and left out when the final value fees are calculated.

I'm sure paypals fees are getting ready to go up again, too.

I'm trying avoid ebay for sure, now as well.

Keep it local as much as possible.
Sincerely,

I was considering putting mine up there as well, but after seeing that, I think I'll wait! I have some interest on Craigslist, and I'm looking to make about what you made there. I don't need those fees!

It's been awhile since I've sold on eBay, sure as heck wasn't expecting that kind of fee! Last time I sold amp I think it was roughly the same price, think I paid $15 in fees! They just made $60 for virtually nothing!

That's their problem, not mine. Kind of makes it a useless place to sell something when they take a cut like that.

No I have every sympathy for you man...
That comment was aimed at ebay not you. It's admirable that you've let us all know to be weary of it.

The word should soon get around on the net hopefully with more stories like yours.
Paul.

Ebay fee's are outrages

Back in the day i took complete advantage of Ebay, LOVED IT!!! it was great, the fee's were allot more fair. not anymore, then your chocked a second time with the "required PayPal" BS, back then we did the money order thing, not anymore :?

Im done with Ebay and sell on Craigslist now, you dont sell your item for quite as much, but in the end it evens out and you don't have to deal with shipping. its actually easier.
