New cab - Vintage Traynor on the way.

Post by baytamusic » Thu Mar 22, 2012 9:30 pm

Just bought this late 60s or early 70s unloaded Traynor 2x12 cab on the bay for $120 shipped. Looks to be some nice pine it's made out of (I think?!, I'm no wood expert). The price was too low to pass up. I have a pair of WGS ET65s waiting for a cab

This may be a good candidate for me to learn how to re-tolex/re-grill.

Cool, that's practically free plus shipping on that thing. I'm interested to hear what you think of those wgs et65!

NICE!!! sweet cab!

I personally wouldn't "re-tolex it",,, I love the MOJO, BUT that just my opinion. if thats what you want, GO FOR IT. BUT make sure you take some before and after pics for us

Nice buy!!!

Pine it is!

I wouldn't re-tolex that one. It looks pretty good for its' age to me.

+1 on the not retolexing. Looks awesome and should sound nice and snappy when done.

Maybe you guys are right. It looks fine. I just really wanted a white cab.

Anyways, doesn't this thing look pretty huge? I wanted an oversized 2x12 so that'll be good if it is as large as it seems to look to me. The speaker cutouts look tiny in there.

Large enough to look good standing on its side! (You know it makes sense!)

I'd not re-tolex it either, just wipe it down, use a little black boot polish, and yeah, bung some rubber feet on one side!

Traynor stuff was always rugged. Should be a great cab! 8)

It looks more like plywood to me, though it does have pine jointing.

Leave it in mojo mode. :)

Oh, I'm sure it's plywood, but I pretty sure it's pine plywood. I have a bunch at home right now because I'm building a studio desk out of it and it looks just like this. It's pretty nice stuff.
