I wish Rubber Soul & Revolver was a double album... It's so hard to choose.
Since we're talking Beatles, check out my new inlays on my 339.
I dig 'em.

I just came in here to troll!
I'm just not a beatles fan. Don't hate me cause I don't get it.
But, I'm glad you guys like em'. I'm going to put the headphones on and zone out to some of the albums you guys are mentioning sometime. Maybe it'll click if I force it.

I picked Rubber because it's the only one I can listen to at any given time.
I started with Magical Mystery, then Revolver, then Sgt. Peppers. I used to despise the Beatles because I regarded them as the Backstreet Boys of the '60's. I changed my mind when I actually listened to their music.

If you're wanting to headphone zone... I'd go with Abbey Road or Revolver... If you as you say, you'll never look back.

Re: Fifty Years of the Beatles poll
The poll is kinda flawed since it doesn't include any album with Strawberry Fields on it since they left that out of the Sergeant Pepper Album
So on this occasion I'm going to have break my tradition of hating compilation albums to go for the Blue Album If I had to take only one album to be my desert island disc that would be the one anyway...

Tough call to pick a favorite. I would weigh in on Please Please Me just for the youthful enthusiasm and how a couple of fairly young songwriters could set the standard for what makes for a pop song.

Listen to 'A Day in the Life' on some good comfortable head phones when you're relaxed in a darked room...ironlung40 wrote:I just came in here to troll!

But if you listen to Pepper, it has to be mono. A completely different and better mix than the stereo. The Beatles and George Martin were there for the mono mixes - stereo was left for the second engineer when they went out for dinner or to the pub.
John Lennon said "You haven't heard Sgt. Pepper until you've heard it in mono...."

Abbey Road
I'd choose Revolver as most innovative but Abbey is also wild and oriented towards the contradictions of inner truth and passion.
They didn't just get away using their genius talent. They were hurt, but they were there trying.
It even reflects the "John is not Paul, dear George" thing .
They are not just making statements. They expose themselves like a circus artist swinging over a thin rope.
