Learning curve on alnicos it seems

Just played got my 2x12 open back with a Scumnico and Weber. I put it vertical on my other 2x12 like a rock star and I just couldn't handle it. Shrill is a kinda harsh term... brutal to my ears at any rate. So, now it's on the floor and is easier to manage sound wise.... in addition to the high end, the extra 1db seems to make a noticeable difference. The clip to distortion is a little hard for me to adjust to. And, I've had to fiddle with my settings a little. Just a different thing happening... I have to play it more like I did my V30 I feel.... clean or fierce. I hope it records well with my greenback clones. Otherwise I'm gonna take a little beating on this purchase... lucky it was used. The Scumnico definitely breaks up before the Weber FC12 and has more high end I feel. I'll have to mic them before I can really discern what's going on. Since both cabs are 8ohms, I can't hear it with my other 2x12 until I get a series cable... about $50.
