Gretsch 6120 on Ebay

Sooooo tempted by this - how cool would it look rockin' an orange Gretsch into an Orange! ;)

I've always fancied a Gretsch anyhow, nice looking guitars.

850 is considerably more than I've ever dropped on a guitar before though....

I love the look of Gretsch guitars. I wish I could play one but they are not really suited to what I play. So tempted to have my guilty pleasure.

I think the Gretsch and Orange would look really cool!

How many lefty Orange guitars did they make? How did you manage to find one?

They're really nice guitars - would it be just for you? As in, not sure how it'd get aling with LCN?!?

Yeah, that's my only slight worry - when I had a nice Japanese ES355 copy I loved the overall sound but the feedback was a bit of an issue! However I have heard some bands playing hollowbodies without problems, even Dave Grohl seems to be rockin' one these days... I'd probably endeavour to drop some different pickups in it too if the filtertrons didn't work out, maybe TV Jones Powertron Plus.

worth it just for the photo shoots :D

I had some issues with feed back and a 335 alike. I found you sort of get used to it, for example I'd keep the neck pickup turned right down (I mostly used the bridge) then as soon as I stopped playing I'd switch pickups (like a kill switch), worked for me :D

I'm having second thoughts for a few reasons:

1) this is one of the pre-Fender models, which I've read often have poor wiring and pickups.

2) He's said it's 'made in USA', which is wrong as Gretsch stopped making guitars in America in 1981 apart from custom shop models - always worrying when a seller of expensive gear doesn't know what they're talking about!

3) Finally, it's a floating bridge and I know aggressive players have problems with them moving about.

850 pounds is a lot to spend on a guitar which I'm pretty sure I'll have to rewire and get new pickups for, plus deface by pinning the bridge! I can get a lot of other nice guitars for that money that won't need fettling, so perhaps I should pass on this, beautiful though it is!
