My band's split with Self Defense Family: RV100 content!

Post by myboss57 » Thu Oct 27, 2011 10:33 pm

Selfless promotion alert!

Our (Fires) split with Self Defense Family (formerly End of a Year) is up on Punknews.org streaming! I'm pretty stoked about it. I've never been in a band where we actually had vinyl pressed, so it's pretty exciting for me.

Yeah vinyl is definitely a great format, something about listening to music on vinyl that just feels right! :D

I'd love to give a listen but this player isn't working for me. No errors, just I click play and nothing happens. Do you have the track posted anywhere else?

Yeah, the player isn't working for some reason - we've notified Punknews so hopefully it will get fixed! The song can be heard here though: http://soundcloud.com/fires-music/thing ... in-the-sea" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

I've seen a bunch of bands start doing this and similar. Providing a code inside the vinyl sleeve for a free digital download of the album so you can make it portable. But agree vinyl is so cool and I've been trying to talk my band into doing something like this for ages.

yeah, there will be digital download codes packaged with the record, so you can still put it on CD/USB/ipod/etc.
This split sort of fell into our hands, we played a show down in Jacksonville and a guy in the crowd liked us and got in touch. He's also a fan of Self Defense Family (who likened putting out split records with bands to having "one night stands", :lol: ) and got in touch with them, and then here we are. I couldn't be more excited about it!
