I just scored an Ad30r

So, I was able to trade my AD30htc straight up for a minty condition 2003 AD30r and I have a couple of questions.

First, does anyone know when Orange started using the more beefed up output transformers? I want to switch out the one in here if it is only 2 cores.

Second, is the reverb footswitchable? If not, thats a damn shame.

This amp sounds great. I, unlike some others, am a fan of its reverb, and find it to be good for accenting a delay signal.

Overall, I think it was a good trade for me! Especially because I can now sell my cabinet for cash. I just have to decide if I want to switch in the Heritage G12H and Celestion Blue into the combo. Hmmm.

Nice score!
I am also a fan of the reverb on the AD30R, but unfortunately mine stopped working some time ago and im too lazy to get it fixed, so ive been using a holy grail instead.
As far as im aware the reverb isn't footswitchable, however i enjoy having constant reverb at a subtle to moderate level.
I did own a AD30TC for a while, but found myself going back to the AD30R. I cant describe exactly how, but the AD30R always sounded slightly better to my ears.
Sorry i cant help you with the details on the output transformers.

Enjoy.
Craig.

Reverb isn't switchable - just set & forget!

I upgraded the OT and liked the change. It's likely yours has a 3-core tranny, so a 5 core might be a little nicer. Mine was only a 2-core.

Thanks guys.

I am excited to use this beast. I just have to decide what my course of action is going to be with the speakers.

Also, do you guys know if I can still go through Orange USA to get the output transformer, or do I have to go to Mercury themselves?

I got mine from Orange. The MM ones might be very pricey, so a Demeter may be a little cheaper. Give them a call and chat about it... you might find that there's not much difference in it now.

Or play it and see how you like it first! You might be happy with it as is...
