What are your favorite Rockumentaries?
I'm resurrecting this thread since it's been a while and I'm sure some new ones have come out or been discovered since. Here are a few others I saw this year that were good:
Beware of Mr. Baker
Bob and the Monster
Searching for Sugar Man
Don't stop believing: Everyman's Journey
Talihina Sky: The story of Kings of Leon
A band called Death
Truckfighters
Sound City
Anyone else have any recommendations?

Muscle Shoals. The soundtrack was just nominated for an Emmy or Grammy or something. Great movie about the musicians (Muscle Shoals has got the Swampers...) and the studios.
Between Sound City and Muscle Shoals I think 75% of the music I grew up with was recorded at these two (three actually) places!
Oh, and the Sugar Man movie was really awesome!

I saw it in the theatre about a month or so ago. Awesome. And it actually was made a year before Sound City!

****, I was just about to post the same thing!StonieSlagg wrote:Fugazi - "Instrument"
edit: when I wrote this, I thought you were the last reply on the topic instead of being on page 2!
But yeah, it's my absolute favorite rock documentary. I love the band, love the sort of myth they've left behind. They've been a huge inspiration to my own musical way of thinking.
Fugazi - Instrument
And I guess 'It Might Get Loud' is kinda interesting too. Though I feel like that documentary is a bit more 'set up', can't shake the feeling that the three guitarists are 'performing' throughout the movie.
I also consider 'FUZZ' to be a rockumentary, eventhough it's intention is to be a movie about guitar-pedals I feel it does enough to explore the rock-world as well with plenty of interesting guitarists and musicians being featured. It's really good and a must see for guitarists.

As a matter of fact my wife thought pro wrestling was for real. She woke me up at a hotel room one night watching some sport channel as the referee stopped the match due to too much violence. She thought it was uncomfortable. And she's a very intelligent woman as well as my father being a well educated/intelligent man. But I didn't recognize Katy P so who am I to taunt?bclaire wrote:It's real all right.Bensnake wrote:This is Spinal Tap. I remember my father thought it was for real...

Soundcity was awesome to me! I wanted to see it because everything Dave does is kind of cool but the story about the consolewas great and amazing. Loved it. It might get loud is def. a favorite too

Just watched Neil Young Journeys yesterday...
Great... that man is one of a kind...
Have you seen the movie "Once"?
Not so much a rockumentary as a modern-day folk'ish musical with Glen Hansard. It's quite good...
A lot I've seen in this thread. And a lot I haven't seen yet, but will now. Keep 'em coming. Great thread.

Ha ha, just watched Electrid Apricot... Brilliant. It's pretty much every other musician I've played with who are somewhat like them.
