If I wanted a tomato, I'd buy a M*rshall.

They should do tie-dye

This has got to be about front panel controls.
If it is, then welcome to the Orange forum's topic of complaint circa February 2010!

I love the front panel controls, I always hated the controls on the top of the amp.
The controls are on the front of heads so I've never understood the fuss

I hate the front panel controls, hideous. I'm just glad I bought my AD30TC when I did, top mounted controls.

For some reason, I'd think the AD30TC combo has remained unchanged, since it is the only combo with 2 rows of knobs. Just a gut feeling though, but I've also never seen a front panel AD30 combo...

I heard that the change to front control panels was done as a request by several Orange users. I was watching a video with I think Doug Doppler and he said "You asked, Orange listened" and he was talking about the change from top mounted controls to front mounted.

Not necessarily, but I heard that the tolex mines in Africa are up and running. How juicy is that?

I am sure it was requested by a lot of players. It is easier to operate on most stages and allows the amp to be located higher with fully visible controls. The easier access probably wasn't the greatest point that Orange considered though. Traditional form has a lot to do with the Orange appeal and the top mounted controls had that. I believe the larger reason was that amps with front panel controls can prove to be more reliable. That is because the tubes are oriented vertically in a head sleeve chassis and in a front mounted combo chassis. In the combo chassis, they are inverted but still positioned vertically. When the amp has top mounted controls, the tubes are installed on the sides and that can lead to problems.

i don't necessarily mind the top mounted controls. i could see how it would be useful, but it is pretty ugly. i guess function>form in this case
