I know this is orange. But I don't think the JCM 2000 get enough respect. We have a AD 30 and a 2000 at the studio and they sound really good together. Anyone agree?

Well the 2000 certainly won't get any from me -- I'm just glad I found an Orange RV prior to ending up with a Marshall. I played an RV then drove across town the the Guitar Center and told myself (because of the price difference) if the Marshall sounded half as good as the Orange I would buy it right then and there!
Welcome to the forum though!;)[:p]

The only problem I have with marshall,as with about everybody else,is I think the price you pay doesnt correspond with what you get.I have a rocker30,and a peavey classic30,and I really cant tell hardly any difference in the sound.I know I will probably catch some flack for saying that. But in all reality,if you listen to some of the worlds greatest artists, they arent using highly expensive gear.
Not a huge fan of the JCM2000, though I'd agree with NR that the DSL50 is the best of the bunch. The TSL's are just overkill, and the prices on all of them are overkill.

I played a 50 at first and that was a "good" sounding amp but trying an Orange ona whim was probably one of the best decisions I ever made!8)
I hate TSLs though -- they have as many buttons as a Mesa and the thin buzzy tone of a Peavey with 6 busted tubes. The TSL sound reminds me of a really bad KISS album from the mid 80s...the one they did without make-up if you guys need a point of reference. LOL
I liked the older Marshalls and reissues I've played though! Not such a big fan of the JCM 800s but a lot of big names get great sounds out of them.

Like the 800s when they sound good, nice chunky rhythm sound. Don't like them when they don't sound good, which has been more often than i've heard them sounding good. Exception is the guy from the Doves.
Don't like the 900s or 2000s i'm afraid. Have to agree with the comment about them sounding a bit fizzy. A Bluesbreaker is probably the nicest Marshall i've played, but I had to push it with a home-made treble-boost to get some sounds I liked. I was playing an SG through it, but I suspect it might have sounded better for blues with a Strat (surprise).
I like my amps with a nice textured sound, which is why I got the AD30... and i'm very happy with it. Haven't found anything else which beats the all-round sound I get out of it. Some amps are better cleaner, but they lack on the gainy side of things, and I haven't found anything else I prefer for the crunch sound. Given as I can get a decent clean from the AD, i'm pretty happy as I am!

Although someone (was it you, CTC?) played a Vox AC30 and a Marshall together, and said they sounded good...

Had one {TSL} and got rid of it when I bought the RV50.Fizzy, buzzy, wheezy anything ending in zzy will describe that amp. Changed speakers, went to nos tubes and it still was nowhere near the rv50 in tone. Lots of discussion on the Marshall forums about getting this amp or that amp snd "modding" it. One factor in buying the orange was this forum and not seeing discussions on trying to alter the amps, altering tone, etc. The RV was the best choice I've made to date.
