Clean channel preamp tube that works best for pedals?

Has anyone found a certain 12ax7, 12at7, 5751, etc. that works at improving any Orange amp's clean channel as a pedal platform?

I've only tried current production ax7's and so far I'm liking the Tung-Sol with a Mullard RI in the PI and JAN/Philips in the fx loop. The JJ short plate is a little dark and no depth, the EH can be harsh, Sovtek LPS too scooped and brittle top end. So far the TS is the most balanced I've found in the 4 yrs I've owned my RV50.

Any other suggestions? I'd still like more sparkle, along with the depth and balanced eq without any harshness.
