It's true. Best amp ever. I can't get a bad tone out of it, even trying things like turning down all the bass and treble. It still sounds awesome. Why on earth did they make the mark II? Just because of a presence knob and el34? To get the tubes away from the magnets? That gives it what the French call a certain.....I don't know what. Whatever, I'm glad to be able to boast about owning on of the originals, which will certainly be reissued one day for big bucks. 6V6 creaminess!

You MUST! Neil - I think it really might end your Orange cravings. And be sure to play either a combo or a head on an open back cab. IMO, that's where the magic lies. Don't me get wrong - when I had it on top of an Orange 4x12 it was awesome too. But I really really dig it with an open back 2x12 with one V30 and one G12H30. To me, that set up really allows the cleans to live and break free from the dark voicing of the amp in general. Just be sure to turn that Volume on the clean channel to at leat 12:00 to see what it can do - and the 2 band EQ is very powerful in shaping the tone.

Magic happens on the clean channel as the volume knob goes past 12 o'clock. I'm glad I got one before they changed it.
