I'd still like to try one out. Never had the chance yet. Maybe stepping up to one would end my Orange cravings.
Re: RV50 MKI = Best Amplifier Ever.
It's true. Best amp ever. I can't get a bad tone out of it, even trying things like turning down all the bass and treble. It still sounds awesome. Why on earth did they make the mark II? Just because of a presence knob and el34? To get the tubes away from the magnets? That gives it what the French call a certain.....I don't know what. Whatever, I'm glad to be able to boast about owning on of the originals, which will certainly be reissued one day for big bucks. 6V6 creaminess!

Well, being objective is something I am rarely accused of!Emilio Estevez wrote:Pretty objective statementNorrin Radd wrote:That is all.
You MUST! Neil - I think it really might end your Orange cravings. And be sure to play either a combo or a head on an open back cab. IMO, that's where the magic lies. Don't me get wrong - when I had it on top of an Orange 4x12 it was awesome too. But I really really dig it with an open back 2x12 with one V30 and one G12H30. To me, that set up really allows the cleans to live and break free from the dark voicing of the amp in general. Just be sure to turn that Volume on the clean channel to at leat 12:00 to see what it can do - and the 2 band EQ is very powerful in shaping the tone.Neiloler wrote:I'd still like to try one out. Please - you've got try one! If you come here and check out mine, I'll cook you dinner.

Magic happens on the clean channel as the volume knob goes past 12 o'clock. I'm glad I got one before they changed it.
I like the thick reverb, a lot.

Haha, Greg, you KNOW if I had the chance to ever visit the Silver Surfer's lair, I would take it in a heart beat! Maybe on my world tour...Norrin Radd wrote:You MUST! Haha, sadly, I've got $0 for any amp in general. Alas. Haha, unless you want a Taylor GS Mini in trade!

I'm holding out for the Rockerverb 50 Mk III. It's going to use one-and-a-half KT88s in the power section .

DIVO, man. you might be able to stick in 4 and a half EL84's in there too, just to even it out.
