Need high gain pedal suggestions for Rockerverb 50

My RV50 rig is set up for classic rock, pop- and some hard rock. But I need to get some good heavier sounds, tighten and gain it up a little for a couple of new cover songs. Will be running it through the clean channel only. I've had the Emma Ratzadfreezit, Wampler Plextortion in the past and they didn't really do it for me.

What's new out there and will be hard not to like? Krank Distortus Maximus, Barber Dirt Bomb???

Oh, here's a sample of what I need to cop: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HI4xt21x ... re=related

Bad Monk... O.K., I'll stop doing it.

I have heard that the Zvex Box of Metal or whatever it is called (high gain Box of Rock) is meant to be pretty good.

i just played with a pedal called the malazadas, it's basically a clean boost and an overdrive/distortion, and i was able to get some pretty heavy sounds out of it through a rocker 30's clean channel.

"Our intention with this pedal was to design a circuit that wouldn't squash the sound of a really nice guitar through a really nice amp, while allowing you to boost the volume level (and harmonic content, too, on the distortion side)."

not sure if there are any video demos out there, but figured i'd mention it.

no clue how it would sound through the RV50, but empress's new Distortion/OD/Fuzz pedal looks sick. ugly, but sick.

Got a WFRR and it's great, but I use it more as a fuzz, hairy distortion. I need open, tight and gainy..not too fizzy or fake sounding.

If your lucky enough to play in a stadium. Use the clean at full dime for your classic rock sound. And scoop the pile of poop out of your dirt channel for the metal!

My Keeley modded Rat is very nice through my RV50, but the Fulltone Plimsoul is the best I've found.

The Krank DM is a great distortion pedal. I had a Krank rev1 head a while ago and the pedal gets pretty close in terms of tone, obviously the head is all-valve and the pedal SS but i would definitely recommend trying one out.

Visual Sound V2 Jekyll & Hyde (distortion AND overdrive in the same pedal with a noise supressor on/off) OR if you only want the Distortion, you can buy the Son of Hyde.

I have all their distortion / overdrive pedal and I love 'em. My Rocker 30 take them pretty well.

To my ears, the ref tone you suggest is a classic mesa tone (rectifier's second channel on high volume). V-Twin Mesa pedal can do the trick you ask for. It's not cheap but it can be a good investment.

Edit: R50 Dirty channel with gain about 11 volume 2-4 o clock + scooped mids should also get you there...
