The white melody is awesome but why is the volume so close. I would constantly be turning that thing down with my wild flailing.

I agree; if these things play well, they'll be a steal.
Re: Finally Gibson does something that makes sense....
Those do look pretty interesting. I'm down with that blue
Strangely enough, I believe the Explorer is my least favorite of these models... Not a fan of the Flying V headstock on anything but a Flying V... Though, I'm also biased towards the Explorer's hockey stick styled head stock.

Ughh...I so thought you were gonna be posting a mass price drop...
Re: Finally Gibson does something that makes sense....
I love the idea, but for some reason I just can't get along with the melody maker headstock in general.

I think these are cool too. They're price to be about $569 new. I'm concerned with the wraparound bridge making the intonation horrible though.

OMG: explorer: DO WANT!!!!!!!! god, why now? seriously? like they couldnt have done this 6 months ago? argh
not sure about the V style headstock though. pickguard is sweet though.
ive never liked ANYTIHNG they do with melody maker headstocks. im sure the extra inch of wood doesnt cost that much. thats why i was bittersweet about the new mm series, i just knew they were going to dongle-narf with the headstocks.
curious about the new 491T pickup...

That is a confounding bridge! Not sure what Led me to say that.indianDYsummer wrote:I think these are cool too. They're price to be about $569 new. I'm concerned with the wraparound bridge making the intonation horrible though.
I bought one of the Juniors that GC had on sale a few weeks ago, and the wrap around bridge has preset ridges that actually work really well for intonation. I agree that this might be hell to keep in tune, but at least Gibson makes great nuts for their guitars. Wait a minute....
Re: Finally Gibson does something that makes sense....
A little too barebones for my tastes. You can get a used SG Classic for 600$, and it has a full nitro finish, bound neck, full headstock w/ MOP logo, and dual P90 pickups.

If I could get one of these white melody makers used and slap a humbucker cover on it for $400 it'd be pretty nice. Maybe in 6 months...

The SG Classic is a much better guitar for not much more money. At least Gibson did something different and affordable instead of awful and expensive (Firebird X, I'm looking at you).
