right-o. i am the only guitar in my band, so i guess i have a bit more sonic space to eke out for myself than i would in a 2 guitar lineup.

I play un-mic'd through a Rocker 30 at 12 o'clock vol and 1 o'clock gain, and I thought that was loud. I weep for your ears.

It always sounds the same to me through my earplugs lol, but apparently it is quite loud ;-)

well there you go. you can't properly rock with earplugs. unless you're roger miller, but that dude has to rock shotgun earphones on stage.

i've actually been trying to get the whole band to pull back volume at practice (myself included) so we can hear our singer. we're cursed right now with a woefully inadequate PA and a very small room.

And when that is cranked I use the gain set at around 6 and that is plenty.
That head does have bag fulls of gain though.
i think that online, you need to really watch metalheads opinion on tone. either they're really good cats who know what they're doing and just like a lot of gain, or they're really sh!tty guitar hero wannabes masquerading as the first choice. the thunderverb can do metal just as well or better than the RV. good choice.

if you haven't found this video yet, it might be able to give you an idea of what you'll be expecting once you get it :D

jason, that clip sucks. he has the attenuator pretty much on full and is filming it with a camera. the guys at wild west guitars did the clip i posted above and nailed it much better. i guess making money is a proper motivator.

hmm, suit yourself. i think it at least showed a bit more the the amount of gain the amp is capable of, even if it was a poor recording.

it shows more variety, yes. but did help start the whole "can't do metal" thing.

Listen to what Chappers says about the head at 26 secs.

He does still say that it's more of an "old school" metal head but implies it can't handle modern tones.

that. like, he plays a (great) guitar with passives designed for general use, cranks the attenuator up to 9 inside a tiny room. if you start a review by saying "can't do" you slate the outcome immediately instead of letting people judge themselves. and when orange had Doug Doppler do a lineup demo, everyone was stunned at how much gain the TV actually had and how heavy it sounded with the 7 string.

therefore, the chappers review is nice but not the best out there. your contribution is appreciated nonetheless :)
