i have the combo version of this amp and i do love it. its not the most versatile amp out there, but thats not what i was looking to get. i wanted an amp that could produce the best clean to overdriven tone for the style of music i play (alt. country, british, indi-rock). if you play the head and it does what you want it to do, then go for it. but again, its all in how you play and how your sound compliments your music. if you have specific questions i'll try my "best" (this is my first orange amp) to answer them.

It's 30 watts of class "A" power. Great for getting the nice tones you get when you crank an amp, even at low volumes.

I have an AD30TC head, and I love it!
Probably one of the best, if not the best, at doing a warm overdriven sounding crunch. Lots of gain to spare too.
The twin channel is pretty flexible too, in that it you can switch between a "dirty" setting, and a clean one pretty fast.
I still like the cleans of a Fender '59 Bassman better, but I didn't buy this amp for a super clean amp at loud volumes. I bought it for a warm overdrive, with the ability to get a pretty sweet clean sound.
All in all, an oustanding amp for any overdriven (mild to heavy) classic rock sound. Speed metal and nu-metal players need not apply.

In general, I have found with all Oranges that if you back off on the guitar volume, the amp sound will clean right up- unlike Marshalls which don't. For years, I didn't bother to use any effects at all or distortion pedal- I set the Orange to a volume and dirt that I liked for a solo tone and then backed off the guitar for a rhythm sound. It takes some getting used to, but it worked wonderfully. Billy

Hi!
If I were you, I would try that amp out before buying it, because not everyone like this sixties-vintage Sound, the AD30HTC has.
I had some technical problems with mine and I first thought that the new Orange amps can't reach the quality of the original ones yet. But after my dealer repaired it two times and changed some parts, it works well now.
In my opinion the AD30HTC has a very fat tone which always sounds more or less "crunchy".So you don't get whether a really clean sound nor a high-gain-metal-sound. It's always something in between which is so special about the Orange sound.
So if you are searching for a Beatles/Stones/theWho-Sixties-Sound you probably won't get something better than an the AD30HTC. But if you play different styles and many kinds of music you should buy an amp which is more flexible, like the amps from Marshall...Good luck
Gonna take my chance,
gonna rock and dance!

I play punk rock with an AD30HTC, and constantly get compliments on my tone. I run it through a Marshall 412 with Celestion 12-75's and a Fender Tone Master 412 with V30's. As soon as I have some spare cash, I'll upgrade to the Orange PPC412. I use this setup with a Gibosn SG, and it really rocks.

you play punk with it? has the ad30htc enough gain for your needs or are you using a dist./overdri. pedal? in case, which one?

I can not stress enough how much this amp rocks! This is by far in the top 3 best amps out there. I just got my AD30HTC a few weeks ago and I love it more than any other amp I've had or heard. I used to have a Twin Reverb and a Classic 50 but the Orange blows them out of the water. But what it really comes down to to is what you play and what kind of tone you like. The Orange is pretty straight forward amesome clean tone reguardless of how you like it. Whether or not you'll like the overdrive is only determined by hearing it yourself. Don't listen to those sound clips on the net, they're not that close to what it sounds like in real life. You really shouldn't buy one without playing it, that's like buying a car over the without driving it first. But whatever you decide to do, buying the Orange in my opinion would be one of the best purchases of your life, but who cares what I think. But what ever you do DON'T BUY A MAJOR/feline (MESA/BOOGIE), that's one of the most wussy, overrated amps out there. Plus everyone dude with the cash to buy one doesn't even look around at any other better amps (ORANGE). Those dudes just see that Linkin' Park or some other crappy band is using them and blows his $1500+ cash on one. Don't be a MAJOR/feline, buy the Orange AD30HTC and you'll be cooler and sound better than anyone else out there.
