+1

I was getting ready to say the same thing. I bought one last year and absolutely love it. I was always wanting a 335, but couldn't justify the money for one as I play solid bodies the most. I found a good deal on the Viking and gave it a shot. I'm happy as heck with it, and don't foresee buying a 335 now unless I hit the lotto.

As already mentioned:
Epiphone Sheraton
Ibanez AS73
Hagstrom Viking/Viking Deluxe

The list is my personal ranking. The Sheraton was the best semi-hollow I played. Played from each model 2-3 in different stores. The Sheraton always was the best guitar.

But one tops them all:

Tokai ES-135

If you can get your hands on one, then try it ! This cutie is so close to my Gibson ES-335 !! Really fantastic.
There is also a cheaper version from Tokai. It is called ES-60. Havent tried one yet but all I heard about it, this guitar is also worth a shot !

I have always love the Sheraton, it is a sweet guitar. Go for the Dot if you want to save some money, but its got a really chunky neck (which I normally dont mind, but this ones weird). Ive tried out a lot of 335 clones renectly and I always came back to the Sheraton.

The closest I found to in quality was an Ibanez as93. I just couldnt get along with it though, for some reason it just felt cheap to me.

I get it, I had a 07 es-335 satin. looked cool! trans black etc. sounded muddy as hell and wouldn't stay in tune. after three professional setups I just got rid of it. ImageI'd try a hagstrom viking.

Don't forget hofner, they make semi-hollows that are much better than the epiphone casino in the same price range.

I can tell you from experience, the Hagstrom Viking Deluxe is a superior made guitar to the Epiphones. I like the Epiphones also, but the Hagstrom is a tone machine and looks SUPER nice in person. It just looks to have more time and precision put into the construction. The pickups are awesome too. That being said, I sold mine because I slowly realized the neck was too skinny for my liking and it was basically just sitting in it's case all the time. I'm gravitating to necks more along the lines of a Gibson neck between 50s and 60s style. Not slim, not fat. It fatigues my hand less.

Anyways, try a Viking. They are very cool. You should play an Elvis song on it.

The Gretsch G5122DC is quite nice if you have $750 lying about. I nearly bought one about a year ago.

Saw a tv yellow es 335 at gc today. Super sweet and i didnt even know tgey made em. Way OT though with its $5000 tag.

Though maybe ghetto, the brown epi dot tickled my fancy.
