OK, so I've been hearing a lot about how forking over a hundred bucks, or even 50 for an hdmi cable is a waste of cash. That Monster is a ripoff, and that diminishing gains render expensive cables a goofy loss.
Let's just assume this is true. How much should I spend then? What cables should I get for my home theater?

Since HDMI cables are dealing with a digital signal, they'll simply work or not work. Quality of components isn't essential as in traditional a/v cables.
I recommend buying the cheapest one you can find that still seems sturdy.

They've got HDMI cable for $7, that's including shipping. You're welcome. (I've used at least 7 different cables, adapters, etc from these guys and they're all awesome!)

Monoprice is great, but if you've got a new TV/Blu-Ray/PS3/etc. that you just cannot wait to hook up, go to Target. Last time I needed an HDMI cable was to hook up my PS3, so I got it at Target because I didn't want to order online and have to wait to get the cable. I only paid $15 for a 3' GE brand cable that seems plenty durable to me. Admittedly, Monoprice is still the best deal, especially if you need a longer cable, but if you need instant gratification, this is a cheap but quality solution.

Go to princess auto, they have great cables at great prices! Seriously!

Theres one issue with cheap HDMI cables, not all are created to the same HDMI spec, an important thing to remember!

Yeah this place is awesome. Especially since I live in California they will overnight stuff to me for less than standard shipping!

Even the best prices already listed are too much. My dad was going to shell out 70+ bucks based on the recommendation of a salesman for one hdmi cable...I told him to look on amazon.ca to see what the cheapest one was. He ended up buying two so that he could A/B them, one for 8$ CAD and the other one was actually 1 cent CAD...that's right, one cent canadian as sold on amazon. He tried them both and of course there is no difference between the cables.
They still have them:

The latest spec for HDMI over here is V1.4 which i believe suports 3D.
I dont have 3D but my brother got me to try one of these....only cheap too about £4 i think
I didn't think there was much difference at first...mine already had gold plugs etc
But when i stuck my old one back in the colours definitely wernt as vivid...
subtle but noticeable
But yeah why fork out a fortune
