moog or red witch, although both are exceptionally way too expensive.

I have a small stone. It's a nice phaser, although it has quite a definite sound and is not as versatile as the Boss one is. However, I much prefer the sound, although the lack of an effect level dial is its drawback.

I have both the Boss PH-3 and the Small stone, and they are both great pedals, but the Small stone works better with high-gain than the boss pedal

My choices would be a Ross Phaser...only get them used now...or a Phase 90 with an R28 mod...both are orange in color so how could you go wrong? The Ross is more like a Phase 100 (two knobs).

I have a Maxon Rotary Phaser and it's incredible, although expensive.

I've not seen one of those before.

Is there much difference to the US and Russion EHX pedals?

I have a US small stone, tried the boss phaser, had some nice touches but not as nice as the SS.

If it works for you go for it, but there are a lot out there to try.

Some of the older Russian pedals were good, I think, but the newer ones aren't quite so good. I think there are some differences in the specs... not sure if the Russians have 9v sockets.

This is why I try and buy effects 2nd hand. Can sell them on for roughly the same price if you don't like them.

I have the US Small Stone. The russian one has a more "textured" sound, It is a bit cheaper, but who knows. I say its a good pedal. They have sound clips on the website, i would'nt mind having the Russian one.

The black ones were the era when Ross was headed down the toilet...components got to be junk in them. Sorry, no sound bites...but I LOVE them for what it's worth. Don't pay more than $100 for one though....just by the Phase 100 and you'll get pretty much the same thing.
