Haha, it's so true. I believe there's some death metal or marylin-manson wanna be band that covered it as well. Can't remember their name, but it was golden. And by golden I mean audio poop.

The Lemonheads version is the only one that matters...

Have enough bands covered everything yet?

It's time to stop ruining old songs that don't need to be "updated" with punk tempos and tons of distortion.

Covers can be hit or miss. Most of the bad ones are too close to the originals (like Come Together). If the song skips genre, it is usually better. Heard a punk band from Milwaukee do a version of 867-5309 that put a new spin on a good song.

Some songs are just too classic to cover. The cover of American Woman was horrible.

The most overcovered song is probably Route 66.

+1 only good cover of the song I have heard. Love the little distortion on it. Pretty nice tone actually.

i hate when bands do that. ever hear the punk goes pop/crunk/etc covers compilations? they're horrible. bunch of shite pop punk bands covering songs by jessica simpson or lil jon and the eastside boyz.

i like when a band with a cool unique sound does a cover of a song that doesn't fit them exactly stylistically, and makes a cool version of the song in their style. in the other covers thread, i mentioned mark kozelek of red house painters and sun kil moon. he does a great job recasting cover songs so they sound like his own songs.
